Everything I Made in January 2024

02.02.2024

One of my 2024 goals was to be more intentional and thoughtful about what I make. I learned a lot last year about what I wear the most and what types of projects bring me the most joy and I really wanted to put that into practice. This month, I made less than I typically do but I think that’s a good thing! On a personal note, I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy in January so that definitely impacted my output. Thankfully, I’m doing okay now and was able to take some much needed rest. I certainly don’t measure my success as a maker in terms of output, but instead of how much joy + satisfaction I get in the process. So overall, I’m calling January a success! Here’s what I made:

1 sewn top

I finally made the cult classic Genra shirt. It’s the perfect addition to my collection of various short-sleeve button ups.

1 crocheted sweater

My very first crochet project ever was this crochet sweater. It’s a made to measure pattern by JuuulMakes. I know made to measure style patterns aren’t for everyone. For my novice level and how I process information, I found it to be a perfect starting point.

2 quilts

I finished my test version of what I’m calling the Citrus Tree quilt. I’m really excited about this one because I quilted it myself on a longarm! That was a really cool learning experience that I can’t wait to try again.

I also finished a quilt top (still need to quilt it) that I will be gifting to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. I’m loving the look of it so far and think this might be an upcoming pattern! I’m not ready to share full pics of it yet, so you’ll have to deal with this sneak peek.

Major progress on a quilt pattern

I finished my test version of the Citrus Tree quilt and I also made major progress on writing the pattern. I would say I’m 95% of the way there and am hoping to get testers involved very soon. I can’t wait to share this one with everyone!

What I’m looking forward to in February

I’m hoping that February will be a chiller month for me personally and that I’ll have more time to craft. I will probably be focusing a little bit more on making garments since I’m in need of a few knit tops and have some great knits in my stash. I’ve been working on my 2nd crochet sweater, but crochet is slow going so who knows if I’ll finish in February. I will definitely be making another Citrus Tree quilt since I always test my quilt patterns along with my testers. Check back next month to see if I manage to get any of this done 😅
