The Elodie Wrap Dress by Closet Core is such a beautiful flowy, romantic, style and I thought it would be perfect for my trip to Paris. I made it in a gorgeous Fableism linen, and the finished result is super cute. Unfortunately, I just wasn’t able to translate the dress into something that I will wear super often. The fit’s a little off, it feels a bit too revealing, and every time I put it on I find myself yanking and adjusting it to try and get it to fit correctly. I absolutely love how it looks in pictures, and I generally liked the process of sewing it, but I don’t think it’s something I’ll try again.

Fabric & Sizing
For my Elodie dress I used a Fableism linen. It’s such a gorgeous fabric that I wish I had an entire bolt of. It might be a little too structured for this pattern though. Most of the versions I’ve seen that really work use something with more drape, and that probably makes a big difference in how the wrap sits and moves.

I sewed a size 2, which aligned with my measurements. That said, the fit isn’t quite right. The waist wrap hits me way too high. It always feels like it’s way too tight on my ribs, making it feel a bit suffocating. If I loosen it to make it more breathable, the V-neck flops open. I tried to illustrate in the photo below where the wrap is hitting me vs. where I would prefer it to hit me (a few inches lower).

Not ideal. I don’t actually think sizing up would solve this, unless it came with a torso length adjustment and maybe a redraft of the bust. I’m not someone who typically invests in making that many modifications, so I probably wouldn’t make it again for this reason. I think my proportions just don’t quite match what the Elodie is built for, but I could see it working well for other body types.
Sewing the Elodie Wrap Dress
Pattern-wise, this one is really well written! The instructions are clear, the diagrams are helpful, and Closet Core does a great job explaining how to keep the dress looking professionally finished. If you’re newer to garment sewing, this would be a pretty approachable project — as long as you’re mindful of the fit.
One notable thing missing: there’s no interior tie to secure the wrap. That means if the outer tie shifts even slightly, you’re at risk of the skirt pieces flying open. I thought about adding one, but the way the pattern is drafted doesn’t make that a super straightforward hack. If Closet Core ever revisits this pattern, that’d be a great detail to include.

Final Thoughts
Would I make the Elodie again? Probably not. Not because it’s a bad pattern — it’s actually really well done — but because the style just doesn’t play nicely with my body. I love the look of it on other people, and I’m glad I tried it, but it’s not the dress for me.
Very beautiful dress design, well written pattern, just unfortunately not a perfect match.
