Stitch Witch Atlas Top Pattern Review

10.30.2022

I have yet another honeymoon make to share with you all: the Stitch Witch Atlas Top. This was one of the patterns that I tried to squeeze out in the weeks before my honeymoon in Italy. It was a super quick and easy project and it was worth it because I wore it multiple times on the trip.

Choosing fabric + sizing

For most of the clothes I made for my honeymoon, I tried to shop my stash. I had this great polka dot cotton linen blend in my stash. I wanted something that had some body to it so that the back pieces would lay properly. I’d also seen a ton of really great linen versions on IG, so I knew that would be a safe choice. I was a little nervous about the polka dot looking weird with a seam down the front – but the dots are so small that I think it’s fine.

For sizing, I went with a 4. My measurements are 34, 26, 37 and the measurements for the 4 are 32/25/34. Honestly, I should have sized up. I’m not exactly sure why I didn’t. I think I’m just typically a 0, 2, or 4 so my gut reaction was that a 6 or 8 would be too big. The top fits totally fine, but the bust is a little tight and I had a hard time getting the top on and off.

Making the top

The Atlas top is such a quick sew. I love a project that has a unique, distinct style but is still very easy to sew and this pattern is exactly that. If you can handle a very simple lining (the back pieces are lined) and a front facing, then you can handle this pattern. The directions are clear and easy to follow.

There are two options for length and I went with the shorter length since I typically wear high waisted pants. The short was just a tad bit too short for me and I think next time I might try to add an inch of length.

Final thoughts on the Stitch Witch Atlas Top

Overall, I loved this pattern and the top I made with it. I’ll be making it again, but next time in a larger size. It’s such a great top for a hot day or a vacation. Since I’m moving to LA soon, I’ll probably need a few more of these in my closet!
